FAQs

What is a custom commission?

A custom couture commission is a garment designed specifically for you. While the overarching design will align with JNGLI’s brand aesthetic — specific structures, colors, and sizing of the garment are customized to complement your body and skin tone.

Where is the garment manufactured?

All commissions are handmade in Los Angeles by Somi, JNGLI’s founder and designer.

What does a commission cost?

The total cost of the commission depends on the complexity of the final garment. The cost includes:

  • Design Mock-Ups

  • Preliminary Fit Consult

  • Fittings & Adjustments

Costs not included and must be paid separately include:

  • Styling

  • Shipping & Insurance (if delivery outside of the Los Angeles Metro area is requested)

What does the end-to-end process entail?

  1. Initial Meeting: During our initial meeting, we will discuss the desired concept, review any mood boards, and understand if there is a specific event that the commission is for (i.e. red carpet, photoshoot, gala, music video).

  2. Design Mock-Up: Based on information gathered during the initial meeting, a rough design mock-up will be provided for review and costing purposes.

  3. Deposit & Contract: If both parties decide to proceed, a contract is signed and a deposit is paid. The contract will include a breakdown of the commission’s cost and estimated completion timeframe. The deposit amount will be 30% of the overall cost.

  4. Preliminary Fit Consult: A preliminary fit consult is done before final design approval or construction of the garment. The purpose of this consult is to take measurements and discuss your:

    • Body shape

    • Fit and support concerns

    • Skin tone / undertones

    • Garment structure

    • Desired color palette

  5. Design Approval: A meeting will be scheduled to discuss feedback on the detailed design mock-ups. Revisions will be made based on feedback. Written approval of the design mock-ups is required for garment construction to proceed. The mock-up package will include:

    • Detailed sketches of the design (front, back, side)

    • Fabric selection

    • Color palette

    • Styling selections (optional, added fee)

  6. Fittings & Adjustments: Depending on the garment’s complexity, anywhere from 1 to 3 fittings may be required to ensure it fits your body as desired.

  7. Styling (optional): For an added fee, styling is also available for your final garment. This will include selection of accessories that build a cohesive final look around your commission.

  8. Payment & Delivery: Commissions must be paid in full before final delivery. They can be picked up or shipped to the location of your choice for an additional fee. All shipments are insured.
